Scatman John deserves way more respect/notoriety than he got during life: turning a disability/weakness into a strength is one of the most impressive and praise-worthy things a person can accomplish as a human being, imo

And for those who don’t know what I mean by this, he had an extreme case of stuttering that plagued him most of his life, until he turned it into the ability to scat sing (aka, the ski ba bop da dop bop part of the song) extremely fast/skillfully.

Add on top of that, that even though he achieved world-wide fame and success, he never let it get to his head, and even when afflicted with cancer he still continued to be positive about things.

Most of his songs were about beating adversity and beating your weaknesses, without being cheesy, corny, or condescending, which is a pretty damn rare thing to see in music lyrically.

Seriously one of the very, very few people I consider to be a hero personally, haha

Also (I should have gotten the name before I deleted the Facebook poll, damn) someone suggested I should have people gift me games they want to see me play: I’m okay with that too, but be forewarned that there’s some games I just likely won’t do because of 1) lack of time to do them (grand epic games, for instance), or 2) they just wouldn’t make fun commentary (RAGE, for instance lol)

that’s why i figured a wishlist would be better because they’d be games I figure would make fun commentary and I’d be able to actually finish sometime this year :P

so i just realized one major reason i think sonic CD is the pinnacle of what “sonic” is: it’s the last game where sonic is a loner, without anyone who relies on him, basically doing whatever the hell he wants whenever the hell he wants.

Sonic 2 comes in and Tails is basically weighing him down some, having to mentor someone, Sonic 3 comes in and now he has to save Knuckles after he fucks up repeatedly ALONG with still mentoring Tails, and then every game after that just doubled and tripled the cast, even though Sonic was still the main star of each game, his image is now that of “the guy everyone relies on” instead of “guy who fucks shit up and doesn’t have any attachments to anyone or anything”.

and i think that switch in personality and image is what has killed the sonic series for me progressively after sonic cd, basically that’s a large part of it at least.

I mean, even look at sonic cd’s images: it’s him vs metal sonic, sonic vs. a rival, the end, nothing else, just that.
